The Minister for Health says he expects the "full weight of the tobacco industry" to be turned on him - after he announced plans to make Ireland smoke free by 2025.
The plan aims to denormalise smoking and reduce prevalence rates to just five per cent over the next 12 years.
Price increases are likely too - Minister James Reilly says he would like to "substantially increase" the price of cigarettes every year for the lifetime of this Government.
