Police Scotland thank Irish people for their support

The detective who led the investigation into the disappearance and murder of Karen Buckley has thanked members of the Irish public.

Over the past number of weeks Police Scotland has received a high number of letters and emails from members of the public here expressing their appreciation for the work carried out by the force.

Senior Investigating Officer Jim Kerr has issued an open letter to say thanks to anyone who made contact with the force.

In it he says it was much appreciated by him and the team of officers involved in the investigation.

The 24 year old nurse from Cork went missing following a night out with her friends in Glasgow last month.

Four days later her body was found on a farm.

A 21 year old man - Alexander Pacteau - has been charged with her murder.
