Up to five people have now escaped an armed seige in Sydney city centre.
Around 30 people are still thought to be trapped in a cafe, and it's understood one armed man is behind the incident.
Hundreds of firearms officers have sealed off the area.
Catherine Burn's - Sydney's Deputy Police Commissioner - says police negotiators are trying to understand whether it's a terrorist incident.
She says police will talk to those that got out.
