Pope Francis is set to be given an official invite to visit the Seanad.
52 of the 60 senators have signed a motion calling for a formal invitation for the pontiff to come to Dublin and address them.
The motion's been signed by members of all parties, including Fine Gael's leader in the Seanad, Maurice Cummins.
The motion will ask the government to make the formal arrangements - which would probably result in a full state visit.
