Pope Francis will begin a three-day visit to Cuba today before travelling onto the United States.
Tomorrow he will celebrate a major mass in the city's Revolution Square in Havana where up to one million people are expected to attend.
The Pope will also meet Cuban President Raul Castro and is understood to have plans to meet Fidel Castro.
Last year he facilitated meetings in the Vatican which led to the normalisation of diplomatic relations between Cuba and the United States.
