Pope Francis has praised the leaders of the US and Cuba for ending their decades-long stand-off.
The Pope is making his first visit to Cuba, and was greeted by Cuban President Raul Castro on his arrival.
Speaking at Havana Airport, he said "we have witnessed an event which fills us with hope: the process of normalizing relations between two peoples following years of estrangement. It is a sign of the victory of the culture of encounter and dialogue".
The 78-year-old Pontiff's nine-day tour also includes a visit to the United States.
Francis helped to bring about the recent thaw in relations between the two countries.
