The group which runs Portiuncula Hospital is operating a helpline this weekend, for all users of its maternity services who may have concerns.

The helpline's been set up after it emerged that two babies died and five others were deprived of oxygen during birth at the Ballinasloe hospital last year.

It's urging any maternity service users with concerns to contact the helpline on 0909 624 620 between 9am and 5pm today, tomorrow and Monday.

Support services will be made available to affected families.
