A post mortem is being carried out this evening on the body of a woman found in Co Limerick yesterday.

The state pathologist Dr Marie Cassidy earlier carried out an examination of the scene where the body was found at the rear of a house at Ballygibba, Kilmallock.

It's understood she sustained head injuries.

Gardai say the outcome of the post mortem will determine the course of their investigation.
