A post mortem on the body of a woman found in a roadside ditch in County Wexford does not suggest she died in suspicious circumstances.

The examination was conducted by the Deputy State Pathologist Dr. Linda Mulligan at University Hospital Waterford, and established the woman was in her fifties.

The PM results suggest her body had been at the site in Ballyandrew near Ferns for about 12 months.

Investigators are awaiting further toxicology test results, but Gardaí say there is nothing at this stage to indicate foul play.

DNA tests are ongoing to confirm the identity of the body.

One line of inquiry is that the remains are those of an Italian woman as documents were found in a bag close to the scene.
