The Irish Blood Transfusion Service has issued a pre-Christmas appeal for donors.
The IBTS is concerned that blood supplies will be difficult to maintain between now and the end of the New Year period.
It expects 10 thousand blood donations will be needed to keep up supplies.

The IBTS is running extra additional clinics this Sunday 18th December in December in Dunshaughlin, Carlow, Perrystown (Dublin), Scariff and Roscommon town.
