President Higgins criticises local authorities on social housing

President Michael D Higgins has weighed into the homelessness crisis suggesting local authorities should apologise for the lack of social housing.

The President’s attending the launch of the annual report of Merchant’s Quay Ireland.

The charity, which provides homeless and drugs services saw increases in demand for all of its services last year, and is particularly concerned about homelessness this winter.
