Pressure grows on Taoiseach to step down

A new opinion poll shows more than half of voters want the Taoiseach to resign.

The Kantar Millward Brown poll for the Sunday Independent indicates that satisfaction with the government has fallen by four points to 27%, with support for Fianna Fail up 6% to 33% - an 8 point lead over Fine Gael which has dropped 4 to 25%.

Sinn Féin ia unchanged on 20%, Labour's dropped 2 to 6%, and the Greens are unchanged on 2%.

The Independent Alliance stays on 5% while other independents drop 2 points to 4%.

The Social Democrats are up 1 to 2% and the AAA-PBP are up 1 to 3%.

The poll comes as pressure builds for Enda Kenny to set out a timeline for his departure, with Minister Leo Varadkar saying 'everyone is waiting to hear from the Taoiseach'.
