Post mortem examinations are to take place today on the bodies of two people who died in a fire in Co Galway.

The remains of a woman in her mid 60s and a 38-year-old man were found in a building on Station Road in Gort.
The blaze, in the Tom O'Donnell flats, was discovered shortly before three o'clock this morning.

Gardai, who are conducting forensic tests at the scene this afternoon, are treating the deaths as a tragic accident.
