Provisional Liquidator Appointed To Dublin Homeless Charity

A provisional liquidator has been appointed to homeless charity Inner City Helping Homeless.

It’s part of a plan to wind up the Dublin-based homeless charity, which has found itself embroiled in controversy amid sexual assault allegations against its founder.

Anthony Flynn, the founder of Inner City Helping Homeless, died last month while allegations of sexual assault against him were being investigated.

The Charities Regulator first received what it described as a “formal concern” in late July and due to the nature of that concern, it was immediately referred to Gardaí.

Today, the regulator presented a petition to the High Court to wind up the charity.

It said the decision to do so “wasn’t taken lightly” and was one of “last resort” in circumstances where the charity’s trustees haven’t been able to address what it described as “the pressing need” for stability and certainty for its staff, volunteers and service users.

A provisional liquidator was appointed today and a full hearing of the petition to wind up the charity, which was set up in 2013 to support the rising number of people sleeping rough in Dublin city, will be heard next month.
