A member of the PSNI has suffered serious injuries after being struck by a lorry in South Armagh.

The police force has confirmed the officer was part a team carrying out inquiries following the overnight theft of an ATM in the Newry area.

One man has been arrested following the discovery of the the stolen ATM in Monaghan earlier - a search is continuing for two more men who are believed to have been involved in the theft.

The constable is said to be in a serious condition in hospital - however his injuries are NOT believed to be life threatening - the incident is being treated as attempted murder.
