Commuters are being advised to use Leap Cards - as public transport fares are set to go up again.

People travelling on Irish Rail, Bus Eireann, Dublin Bus and LUAS will ALL have to pay more.

The first increases come into effect on November 1st.

Head of the National Transport Authority Gerry Murphy told the Last Word commuters will save a significant amount if they switch from cash to LEAP cards...

Train users are angry that fares are going up at a time when Irish Rail has cut costs, and the cost of diesel is at its lowest in four years.

On average Irish Rail fares will rise 9 per cent, despite the fact that it's implemented a range of cost saving measures.

Fares are going up across the board with fares at Bus Eireann to rise by an average of three and a half percent and in some instances a Dublin Bus journey will cost up to 10 per cent more.
