Gardaí have seized 14 puppies found in the boot of a car at Dublin Port.
They were being transported in a "dangerous manner" in metal containers without water, food or ventilation.
They were discovered when Gardaí stopped a car on Promenade Road near the port, driven by a man in his twenties.

No valid documentation was produced and the dogs were seized for alleged cruelty.
The puppies are now in the care of the DSPCA.
A summons will be issued in relation to the case, according to Gardaí.

The DSPCA says the animals were destined to be sold in the UK for an estimated €17,000.
The dogs were healthy but will be monitored for a number of days and will be then put forward for adoption.
