The proposed construction of pylons in the South-East WON'T now go ahead, according to Eirgrid.
They say that new technology will allow them to increase the capacity of current infrastructure instead.
It's the first time that the new technology will be used in Europe and will cost more than 50 million euro less than building new pylons.
CEO of Eirgrid Fintan Slye says that they listened to people who were opposed to the construction of pylons.
