Women had to be turned away from SAFE Ireland emergency refuges more than 3 thousand 400 times last year, because of a lack of space.
The latest figures from the organisation show nearly 11 thousand 500 women and children sought help for domestic violence in 2013.
It also took more than 46 thousand calls for help – over 120 a day.
