One in six renters has bought a book to make their home look good, rather than to read it.
A survey by Spare Room in the UK found art, design and photography books are most likely to sit on shelves unread.
People also admitted to displaying travel books and literary classics in their homes that they've no intention of reading.
One in eight even said they'd buy a fake book as a decoration.
