Revenue is warning people not to consume counterfeit alcohol - as it may cause serious harm.

It follows the discovery of over 400 thousand counterfeit vodka labels in a shed in Kilcurry in Co Louth on Wednesday night.

Over 110,000 bottle closures were also found along with 500 counterfeit cardboard outer cases.

No counterfeit alcohol was uncovered but a bottle filling machine and ancillary equipment were also seized.

Two people were questioned about the find and investigations are continuing.

Revenue is reminding people that cheap alcohol from an irregular source is likely to be counterfeit and could potentially cause serious harm if consumed.
