A Rhino Horn stolen from the home of Michael Flatley last night could be worth up to 200,000 euro on the black market.

A Garda forensics team has examined the safari room at Flatley's Castlehyde mansion in Co Cork after a gang last night forced their way in and smashed the valuable rhino horn off its display.

The family who were home at the time were unharmed.

Gardai believe that Michael Flatley's Co. Cork home was targetted by thieves who were intent on taking just the rhino horn - nothing else was taken in the raid

The dancer, who was at home with his wife Niamh and son Michael Junior noticed the break in at around half past six yesterday evening.

Gardai from Fermoy have carried out a forensic examination at the Castlehyde mansion - they are also examining CCTV footage from the house and grounds

Rhino horns are often targetted by criminals who can sell them for up to 65,000 dollars per kilo on the black market.

Last April, three masked men broke into a warehouse belong to the National Museum of Ireland, tied up a security guard and made off with four rhino heads holding 8 horns.
