The Cabinet has approved new legislation that will see roadside testing for drug driving.
Transport Minister Paschal Donohoe hopes it'll become law by next summer.
We'll then see testing for heroin, cocaine, and cannabis - which could result in drugs consumed days before showing up in somebody's system.
An impairment test will be used if somebody is thought to be driving under the influence of codeine.
