Ruairi Quinn has resigned as Education Minister.

The Dublin South East TD’ has also announced he won’t be running for the Dail in the next General Election.

Rurai Quinn who is 68 has been a TD for almost 40 years.  He is one of the most experienced ministers in cabinet having served in the Departments of Education, Finance, and Enterprise.

Mr Quinn made the announcement ahead of the election of the new Labour leader on Friday.  A cabinet reshuffle is on the cards once the party ledership is settled.

The Dublin South East TD also announced that after being in the Dail for nearly 40 years, he won’t be running in the next General Election.
