Scientists in the UK have managed to breed healthy mice without using a fertilized egg cell.

Experts at the University of Bath say the procedure involves injecting sperm into a modified, inactive mouse embryo.

It has led to speculation that the method may one day allow both men and women to "self-fertilize".

But some critics say that's highly speculative.

Dr Tony Perry, a scientist at the university, says it certainly offers hope though.
