Independent TD Sean Conlan has been remanded on bail, after appearing in court in connection with an alleged assault in August.

Deputy Conlan, who recently resigned from Fine Gael, faces charges including assault causing harm, after a dispute on the 23rd August at his family pub in Ballybay, in Co Monaghan.

He was arrested by arrangement this morning and appeared at Carrickmacross District Court.

Sean Conlan was released on bail on his own bond of 100 euro, to appear in court again on 27th January.
