A search and rescue alert in Limerick has turned out to be a hoax.
An anonymous call was made earlier this evening reporting that a woman was seen entering the River Shannon.
A spokesperson for Limerick Marine Search and Rescue says it's now emerged that rescue services were dispatched to a bogus alert, which he described as a disgrace.
Reporter David Rally is in Limerick and say the emergency services have condemned the actions of the person behind it.
