A second teenager has been arrested by gardaí investigating a suspicious fire at a factory in Drogheda, County Louth overnight.

Several units of the fire brigade are continuing to tackle the blaze at the Dawn Paper plant, which has been burning since 10pm last night.

Gardaí say they're now following a definite line of inquiry into the suspected arson attack.

A fourteen-year-old boy was arrested a short distance from the plant - he was questioned and has since been released without charge.

Just before midday, gardaí arrested a 17-year-old youth - he is being held for questioning at Dundalk Garda Station.

The plant, which has been manufacturing industrial cleaning paper and domestic tissue paper for the Irish market since 1988, has been destroyed in the overnight blaze.

The roof of the building has collapsed and fire crews are continuing to dowse the scene, which is expecting to stay smouldering for days.

No-one was injured.
