The Minister for Education says she'll now press ahead with an overhaul of the Junior Cert - despite continued opposition from teachers' unions.

Jan O'Sullivan says she's not prepared to enter further talks - and wants unions to accept compromise proposals from Dr Pauric Travers. 

Her comments come despite the move from secondary school teachers' unions to postpone another day of strike action.

The unions believe the 'Travers report' can be the building block for more talks - but the minister says the time for talking is now over:

The TUI and ASTI held long talks yesterday on the proposed compromises. 

The teachers will maintain their 'work to rule' over the changes to the junior cert, until there's agreement.
