A man has died following a crash between a bus and pedestrians in Dublin City.

The incident happened shortly after 12:30 this afternoon on North Earl Street.

One man was pronounced dead at the scene earlier today, while three adults have been taken to hospital for treatment of injuries of various severity.

Local traffic and pedestrian diversions remain in place, with Talbot Street closed from Gardiner Street, and Marlborough Street shut from Cathal Brugha Street.

Gardaí are asking people with photos or videos of the incident not to share them, but make them available to investigators.

A garda spokesperson says: "Gardaí and emergency services attended the scene of a fatal road traffic incident involving a bus on North Earl Street, Dublin 1, today Thursday 5th February 2025 shortly after 12:30pm.

"One adult male was declared deceased at the scene.

"Three adults were conveyed to hospital for treatment of injuries of various severity.

"An Garda Síochána is not in a position to provide any further information on casualties at this early stage.

"Local traffic and pedestrian diversions are in place.

"Restrictions are in place around the scene which has been preserved for examination by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators.

"A Senior Investigative Officer (SIO) has been appointed to lead the investigation from an incident room at Store Street Garda Station.

"An Garda Síochána requests that if anyone has photographs or video of the incident to not share them but to make them available to the Garda investigation team at Store Street Garda Station.

A Bus Eireann spokesperson says: "Bus Éireann can confirm that this afternoon, 5 February, one of our vehicles was involved in an incident in the Talbot Street/North Earl Street area of Dublin city.

"The vehicle was not in service at the time of the incident.

"Emergency services and Bus Éireann personnel attended the scene. Bus Éireann is offering its full support to the relevant authorities and will provide any additional assistance required."
