The National Emergency Coordination Centre is warning that severe flooding may affect parts of the midlands and southwest.

New weather warnings have been issued for the west with 35mm of additional rainfall expected in Connacht, Donegal, Clare and Kerry.

While people living along the Lower River Shannon are bracing themselves for further flooding tonight and tomorrow.

Up to 100 homes are expected to be flooded in the next few days - while thousands of euros in damage has already been caused to shops and businesses in the west.
