28 years since he last made an appearance in the top 10,  Shakin' Stevens has received an unexpected boost to his career.

The denim clad singer has topped a BBC Poll for the greatest living Welsh voice.

He beat the likes of Shirly Bassey , Kathryn Jenkins and Tom Jones to claim the top prize.

James Dean Bradfield of the Manic Street Preachers came second, musical theatre star John Owen Jones was third.

Shaky whose real name is Michael Barratt has enjoyed a platinum selling career spanning 5 decades.  He still records and tours.
