Shatter apologises to Garda penalty points whistleblowers

The justice minister has apologised to the two penalty points whistleblowers.

Alan Shatter has corrected the Dáil record and withdrawn his claim that Maurice McCabe and John Wilson failed to co-operate with an internal Garda inquiry into their allegations.

The move is likely to satisfy his colleagues in the Labour Party, though the opposition is continuing its calls for his resignation.
