Up to three people have been killed and two arrested following a massive police and army operation in northern Paris this morning.

A number of suspects - including the mastermind of Friday's attacks - were understood to have been under seige at an apartment in the Saint Denis area.

French media is reporting that a woman who was wearing a suicide belt was killed after detonating it.

It is believed another terrorist suspect was killed by a police sniper. A passer-by is reported to be another casualty.

The operation in the Saint Denis area has been ongoing since early morning.

Residents in the area have been told to stay inside.
