There's been a drop of more than third in the number of barring orders being granted.
But the number of safety orders issued by District Courts has increased by 55 percent over the last eight years - these are issued to prevent the person the order is made against from engaging in violence, or threats of violence.
Figures released by the Courts Service show a shift towards safety orders, rather than the use of barring orders and are generally issued in cases of Domestic Abuse.
