ThereÂ’s been a 41 percent increase in the number of people accessing the Simon CommunityÂ’s services in the past two years.
The charity says its services are stretched to the limit, and while it welcomes the recent measures announced by the Government, Simon says emergency measures must not become long term solutions.

The last official figures for homelessness were on Census night in 2011, when almost 4000 people were officially homeless.
In its annual report for 2013 – the Simon Community says since then, there’s been a 41 percent increase in the numbers of people accessing their services.
The organisation has welcomed the coalitions 20 point action plan announced last week, but national spokesperson Niamh Randall says it’s vital that emergency measures do not become long term solutions.
