‘Single-use’ has been named the Collins Word of the Year for 2018.

'Plogging’ made the finalists list - that’s a Scandinavian fitness craze that combines jogging with picking up litter.

'Vegan,' 'MeToo' and 'Backstop' also appear.

Here's the top ten:

Single Use - Plastic products made to be used only once

Backstop - Brexit term

Floss - Dance move made popular from the game 'Fortnight

Gammon - A person, typically male, middle-aged, and white, with reactionary views.

Gaslight - Form of emotional abuse: Making a person doubt their ownversion of events

Me Too - Cultural movement that seeks to expose and eradicate predatory sexual behaviour

Plogging - Picking up litter while jogging

VAR - Video assistant referee 

Vegan - Person who eats a plant based diet

Whitewash - To cast a white actor in the role of a character from a minority ethnic group
