The AA says motor insurance premium prices are dropping - but it's still expensive to run a car.
The average cost of keeping a typical family car on the road remains at more than €10,600 a year - but the figure is down 1.6% (€178.05) compared to last year.
Fuel prices have remained relatively stable, while insurance prices are down 10%.
Conor Faughnan of the AA, however, stressed that the motor insurance crisis started three years ago - and despite the recent decrease for some customers, prices are still high.
He argued: "Really the only thing we can say about the last 12 months is it didn't get much worse for those who've already taken the hit."
