The goalkeeper and captain of South Africa's national football team - Senzo Meyiwa has been shot dead by gunmen who broke into his girlfriend's house.

Police say 7 men entered the property near Johannesburg.

The 27 year old's local club, Orlando Pirates, who he played for on Saturday, say his untimely death is a sad loss for the nation.
