The number of cases of gonorrhea has increased fourfold in Ireland over the past decade.

Overall - there's been a spike in common STIs in general - according to the European Centre for Disease Control.

The number of cases of chlamydia and syphillis have doubled.

It's also thought chlamydia levels could be considerably higher but aren't detected as many suffer no side effects.
