The acting Minister for Sport says he saw the dangers of Mixed Martial Arts coming down the track.
Michael Ring's comments follow the death of João Carvalho after his bout with Irish fighter Charlie Ward on Saturday night in Dublin.
He says he wrote to over a dozen representative organisations - outlining his concerns about the as of yet unregulated sport - during the term of the last Government.
