It's emerged the state could pay the market price for a number of homes sold to vulture funds.
The Sunday Business Post reports the properties had originally been sold by NAMA.
Negotiations are underway to purchase 200 homes, 26 of them had been previously owned by NAMA.
The deal will see all the units made available for social housing.
