Heavy rain will hit much of the east and southeast today, with Dublin, Wexford, and Wicklow under a Status Orange rain warning until 8 O'clock tomorrow morning.

13 counties in the region will remain under a Status Yellow warning until an hour later at 9am.

Rain and flooding risks will continue through the day, and conditions could worsen as the system develops.

It’s warning people to prepare for flooding, even if their county is not currently subject to an advisory.

Dublin Airport says operations are going well this afternoon.

It's advising passengers to take care on the roads, and to get to the airport in plenty of time for their for their flight, and to check the status of it, in the event of possible changes through the day.

Meanwhile Cork County Council has activated a Level One Flood Response Plan in East Cork with pumps in place at locations prone to flooding.

Up to 40mm of rain is expected to fall in East Cork with 30mm expected across the rest of the county.
