The company says the rise will take effect on October 12th.
Gary Ryan, Managing Director Customer Solutions at Energia said, the company is always reluctant to increase its prices.
“However, the ongoing global volatility of wholesale energy markets and increased network charges means that it is now necessary for us to make a price change across electricity, and our first increase to gas since 2022.
Mr Ryan said they understand the price increases affects households and is encouraging people experiencing financial difficulties to contact them.
“We also collaborate with several charitable and support organisations such as St Vincent de Paul, MABS, Alone, and our customer service team are available to speak to any customers experiencing difficulty.”
