A Status Red weather warning has been issued by Met Eireann for all coastal counties on the west coast.
Winds of up to 150 kilometres an hour are forecast.
The alert extends from County Donegal to County Kerry.
Local authorities along the west coast are standing by to deal with the extreme weather.
