Met Eireann is looking for suggestions from the public for good storm names.
In a joint initiave with the UK Met Office it's hoped the move will make people take severe weather more seriously.
Names can be tweeted to Met Eireann using #nameourstorms, sent in via Facebook or by email.
A list of the best names from both countries will be complied to form one list.
Early front runners gaining traction on social media include 'storm in a tea cup' and 'Hurricane Higgins'.
Once the list is compiled storm names will taken in alphabetical order, alternating between male and female names.
