Supermac's is stepping up its battle with McDonald's to have its name registered across Europe.
The Irish owned company - which opened its first fast food restaurant in Ballinasloe in 1978 - says it's responding to demands from 15 cities in Europe to open more outlets.
But McDonald's has objected saying the name Supermac's is similar to the name McDonald's and it may cause confusion to consumers.
Supermac's has now lodged a submission with the EU's Office for Harmonization in the Internal Market.
