A man and a woman have been arrested after Gardaí foiled what's believed to have been a planned gangland hit in the city.

A loaded gun and Halloween mask were found in a car stopped in Ashtown yesterday.

A loaded handgun, silencer, ammo, petrol canister and a halloween mask were uncovered, and the pair in their 30's were arrested at the scene.

The man is well known to Gardaí and believed to be connected to the Hutch family.

Recently, the Assistant Garda Commissioner revealed detectives have prevented around 40 murder attempts in the feud with the Kinahan cartel.
