The Dublin Rape Crisis Centre has criticised the leniency of a sentence handed down to a man convicted of rape.

Magnuse Meyer Hustveit pleaded guilty to raping his girlfriend while she slept, but was given a seven year suspended sentence.

The 25 year old Norwegian man had emailed the victim and admitted to sexually assaulting her on a regular basis.

In her victim impact statement she said she suffers "memory loss, anxiety, anger and panic".

On the Last Word, Ellen O'Malley Dunlop of the Dublin Rape Crisis Centre said she believes the suspended sentence is not appropriate in this case:
