Around 450 migrants have arrived safely in the Italian port of Corigliano, after the cargo ship they were on was abandoned.
People traffickers left the vessel unmanned in rough seas.
Children and pregnant women were among the migrants onboard - most of them are believed to be from Syria.
The Italian Coastguard says it's the second incident of its kind in just a few days.
The coastguard commander in Corigliano Calabro, Francesco Perrotti, said all the migrants on board were from Syria.
He said they were being taken by bus to other parts of Italy. He described the migrants' physical condition as relatively good after their three-day ordeal.
